First of all.. A big shout out to John Dickey for hosting the 2023 Burt Reynolds kickoff Bocce tournament.
A great host and the yummy ham was enjoyed by all.
It was a new venue with a lot of options for courts and the players had to learn the lay of the land as they had never played here before. Round Robin play consisted of three games played at the same time, unprecedented.
After round Robin play and a couple of play the standings were:
Pool A
Friesen 3-1
Blohm 3-1
Byno 2-2
Stan 1-3
Chet 1-3
Pool B
Bunny 3-1
Din 3-1
John 2-2
Koks 1-3
Grant 1-3
2 play ins were required to determine 4th place in each pool where Grant and Chet were eliminated.
We were set for the page playoffs to set the pool winners who would meet in the Burt Reynolds final.
Pool A 3 – 4 game Stan vs Byno – Winner – Stan

Pool A Semi-final – Friesen vs Stan – Winner – Stan

Burt Reynolds 2023 Final - Friesen vs John – Winner John
Excellent Bocce was played in the 2023 Burt Reynolds BHLISA season kickoff.
One of the amazing story lines of the day was Koks scratching and clawing his way into the Pool B playoffs starting with a play in game with Brother-in-law Grant as they were both 1-3. Koks won this family battle but could not get by John to continue the comeback. Good work Koks!
John Dickey was steady and consistent all day on his home court. In the end defeating 2 time BHLISA champ Friesen. Congratulations John!
Hope to see everyone May 21st at the May Long / Victoria Day tourney.
